Defined benefit pension plan

Plan design

  • Cost analysis to modify benefits, implementation of new provisions, implementation of flexible components;
  • Set-up of supplemental pension plans.

Actuarial

  • Actuarial valuation on capitalization bases for plans registered in Quebec or at the federal level;
  • Actuarial valuation for accounting purposes and preparation of the information needed to meet the reporting requirements for the financial statements of plan sponsors / employers under different accounting standards (international, Canadian, American, public sector);
  • Monitoring the financial position of plans on a periodic basis (for example quarterly);
  • Projection of the financial position of plans at future dates.

Plan administration

  • Maintaining and updating participation data, calculation of benefits and preparation of the form outlining the available options following the termination of employment, retirement or death of a participant;
  • Calculation of benefits and preparation of the form outlining the available options following the breakdown of a marriage or union;
  • Preparation of annual employee benefits statements;
  • Calculation and reporting of pension adjustments, past service pension adjustments and pension adjustment reversals;
  • Preparation of the annual information return and other forms required by the regulatory authorities.

Assistance to pension committees and pension plan sponsors

  • Organization and preparation of pension committee meetings;
  • Organization and preparation of annual participants meetings;
  • Review and advise on the preparation of the financial statements for the pension plan;
  • Analysis and drafting of investment policies, monitoring of investment performance and risk analysis with respect to the proportion of liabilities to assets;
  • Consultation on legal and other developments affecting pension plans;
  • Employee training.
